Western Civilization is cutting its own throat

 

In surrendering so rapidly and completely to the philosophical spasm opaquely labeled WOKE, the many nations who have created and led western civilization for millennia are committing an ugly suicide that may very well plunge the entire world into a dark age of ruin, poverty, cataclysmic declines in population, and reversion to a global anarchy of constantly warring tribes.

I’ll do what no one else will: Assign meaning to the characters of the term WOKE, which is appropriately interpreted as Western Obliterators Killing Everything.

What haven’t they killed or tried to kill? Culturally, the WOKE movement has tried to eliminate everything that existed before their constipated and ignorant “time now” mentality, including literature, film, art, music, sport, religion, the scientific method, and history. Politically, they’ve declared war on the rule of law, freedom of speech, the sanctity of personal liberty against the diktats of their constituent (Judas-Goat) victim  groups, the electoral college, the Supreme Court,  the founding documents of the United States, the heroes of the American experience up to and including Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln. Socially, they’ve savaged the most basic concepts of civility, polite language (in favor of ruthlessly, deliberately foul mouths), tolerance for the rights of those they disagree with, and respect for both elders and ancestors. Think about it. They’re trying to run everything off the board that isn’t already contained inside their unread, inexperienced, and in many ways pampered and semi-conscious lives.

What are they left with, these presumptive leaders of a counter-culture Revolution that beggars the aspirations of their forebears in the hippie-radical Sixties? Nothing but the two most failed political movements of the 20th Century — Hitlerian fascism and Stalinist Communism. The only “equality” ever achieved by these two political systems is 1) the equality of scarcity when no one has anything, not money, not property, not freedom, not even enough food; and 2) the equality of terror when the rule of law no longer exists and all the power is in the hands of those who can convert their personal whims to life-and-death control over the impotent masses. When there is no enforceable law, all that matters is who owns the biggest clubs and the most guns, which is always the government. Hitler, Stalin, the same thing. Their stock in trade? Turning one group against another until blood runs in the streets. This is always the first resort of powerful people lacking in both imagination and human morality. To the consciousness-damaged, hatred is the easiest conjuring trick to distract the idiots at large from the identity of the real villains. Terror is the ultimate weapon against every kind of dissent. Is there an Achilles heel to the terror strategy? Yes.

What all the “Revolutionaries” tend to forget is that they will never be in the top circle of power. Their time will come. How Trotsky died in Mexico with an icepick in his ear, and how Ernst Röhm died with all his Brownshirts on a bloody night in 1934. (You WOKE-volk can look this stuff up; I’m not stopping you from becoming awake rather than, you know.)

But how can I claim the WOKE-volk are both Hitlerian and Stalinist? Because they obviously, openly are. Why else is the hardass left so virulently anti-Semitic, so consumed with Jew hatred that they obsessively compare Israel to Hitler’s Germany? Two reasons. Calling someone else Hitlerian is a form of denial, pretending that this unacceptable attribute is no part of your identity. But this denial is a delusion, proven by the real reason for the current disgustingly Jew-hating excesses of the hard left. Which is that anti-semitism is one of the easiest ways to unify the failed, envious losers in your own constituency. Almost every second- or third-rate leader in history has targeted the Jews as villains, because they are smart, well educated, accomplished, and paranoid enough to hide when threatened, what with all the people who have been trying to kill them (and succeeding) for thousands of years. It was always Hitler’s ace in the hole, the one that finally did him in. It will do you in too if you keep it up.

WOKE-volk in SS uniforms are what? Fascist. Hammer and sickle? Stalinist.

Your other, primary (primus inter paribus), target is white men. Which is both insane and emblematic of both Hitlerian and Stalinist tactics, meaning dumb shit tactics that automatically doom you to a forest of contradictions you will never talk or shoot your way out of. Uh, what?

Hitlerian because it’s first of all racial and in any contemporary political context this side of insanity racist. Hating white people for being white is exactly the same as hating black people for being black. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. When WOKE fever abates, as it inevitably will, you will have no answers for dozens of contradictions in your illiterate fulminations of today.

One perfect example. You invented the charge of cultural appropriation because white people borrow black, Native American, Asian, whatever, cultural forms and use them as if they had some right to, well, steal them from helpless victims. Makes you feel all tingly and proud to level such a charge against a white musician or fashion designer, doesn’t it?

What if white men countered by demanding an end to the appropriation by nonwhite musicians of the piano, the saxophone, the electric guitar, and the do-re-mi music scale? What if white men said give up the game of basketball, invented by James Naismith, and football, invented by Princeton and Rutgers and put into its current form by Knute Rockne? What if the estate of Levi Strauss sued for compensation by other races of the uncredited use of Blue Jeans, or a similar suit was filed by the estates of Smith&Wesson? What if the descendants of Thomas Crapper wanted reparations for uncredited use of flush toilets by, you know, people who were not white males, including (wow) white females. Who, by the way, are not immune in other respects — research corsets, tampons, electric vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, freezers, microwave ovens, plastic (for curlers and more recently faces), silk stockings with a line up the back, etc. But back to basics. Want to hand over appropriated but never challenged rights to radio, television, motion picture, and sound recording equipment, not to mention the age of automobiles which did more to build American culture than practically anything you can think of, except of course for Levi-Strauss and, sorry to point out, the U.S. Navy for that most appropriated of all cultural touchstones, the tee-shirt.

Truthfully, white men don’t care about cultural appropriation. A rising tide lifts all boats. Capitalist axiom. Why the notion of white rage is so silly. I am older than a lot of you will ever get to be, and I come from a generation that venerated (and sometimes idolized) the legend of Satchel Paige — I had his Topps Baseball card from KC once when I was a kid and lost it, dammit — Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat Cole, Teddy Wilson, John Coltrane, Nina Simone, Sam Cooke, Lena Horne, the Supremes, Ronnie and the Ronettes (!), Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Jimi Hendrix, uh, where was I? — Roberto Clemente, Muhammed Ali, Doctor J, Randall Cunningham (& proud Olympian daughter Vashti), Alan Iverson, Ossie Davis, Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Thomas Sowell, John McWhorter, Clarence Thomas, Ben Carson, Rick Scott, and… you get the drift. Big part of my life over 50 years. I won’t play the game of friends. Answer is, yes. Black friends from the beginning, not always in the expected combinations. I once asked Rosa if I could kiss her on the cheek. She let me. She was old enough to be my mother. My first ever prayer for a person whose life was in danger was for a babysitter who got shotgunned in the stomach by a jealous friend. The man who saved her was a white guy who saw her bleeding out on a stretcher in the corridor and had her wheeled into surgery stat. He was the hospital’s best surgeon and he didn’t charge her a dime. That will have to do for personal citations.

I’m thinking most white guys can cite similar associations. So why has the WOKE community targeted white guys specifically? Because it’s easy to make things racial even when they’re not and because there’s a Stalinist element that’s intrinsic to the uncomprehending left. White guys invented and have perpetuated capitalism, which makes them criminals automatically in the Marxist model. Capitalism is supposedly responsible for the existence of both Haves and Have-Nots. But capitalism is not, never has been, a sociological system, or even a moral system. It’s merely a mechanism for channeling the good and the bad in humanity in ways that produce both benefits and pain, though usually less pain than in the brutally dictatorial systems of totalitarian governments run by amoral criminals.

American and, yes, European, capitalism both depend on something beyond economics. Without a moral compass to restrain the competitors, capitalism can indeed become the Octagon of mixed martial arts fame — almost no rules and no quarter expected or given. In the post WWII-era in particular, America’s — and Europe’s — phenomenal economic growth and wealth-building were powered by, I hate to say it, white guys who had grown up in the Depression and fought in the war. They came home with a clear set of values. They strove for business success but they were constrained by the determination to do no hurt.

They’d seen enough hurt and blood and heartbreak to foreswear all that. The capitalist equivalent of the doctor’s Hippocrates vow to “do no harm.”

We’ve lost them and much else besides. Which leaves us with two remaining critical questions. 1) What do the WOKE-volk really want out of their (so-called) Revolution? And 2) Why are the governments of the west surrendering so easily to their infantile tantrum?

What’s the right order in which to answer these questions? Why do the ones who want to kill everything want to kill everything? Or why do the ones who are letting them, in fact aiding them in their purpose, enable them to keep getting their way?
